Bruce comes from Kensmuir working stockdog center . He is out of Pete (J. Simpson-Hill's Roy X Flo), out of Gwen (Scrimgeour's Bob x Fleece). Bruce's blog Bruce has an amazing work ethic, and a great partner on the farm. He has been used extensively on cattle and sheep, but also does well on ducks. Bruce has always impressed me with his great work ethic, even early on he was always more about work than "silly stuff". He has a very natural cast and stock read, but tends to like being pushy. He works well in tight quarters for moving sheep through the race, and listens well enough for me to be able to call him into different areas when pressure is needed. Bruce has earned his advanced and Champion titles in AHBA on sheep, cattle, goats, and ducks with high scores and firsts. This year at 3, I moved him up to USBCHA Open class . He is a great shedding dog and outrunner. Even though he is a good trial dog, he is a farm dog first and expected to be tough , and dependable with no quit. He can work for hours and when the job is done he knows it. He loves to go for a good roll after his "That'll do". Even though he has enormous stamina and heart, he is a pleasure to have around the house. He is a crowd pleaser at demos, and loves all the attention. For a couple years now he has been my main dog at the local school for stockdog demos. He is a hit with the kids and loves all the pets. It amazes me that a dog like Bruce can be so gentle and clownish at times, but when it's a matter of a mad momma cow , he steps up and handles her. Last fall we had such a cow, who wasn't a bit nice and protective of her calf.. I was thankful Bruce was there to keep her off me when I needed to take care of her sick calf, but at the same time worried he would get hurt.
